SHAHID HASAN
Shahid is a research fellow at the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Centre (KAPSARC), Saudi Arabia. He has over 25 years of research and consulting experience in three geographic regions (South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East) with expertise in identifying and addressing economic, policy, regulatory, technology, and sustainability issues relevant to energy transition. His current research focuses on the prospects and challenges of developing a hydrogen economy, electricity market reforms, and issues concerning electricity market integration in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
Before joining KAPSARC, he worked with the Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), an energy policy think-tank based in India, where he consulted extensively on policy, regulatory, and market design for governments, electricity regulators, public utilities, and the electricity industries in India and Southeast Asia. He has also contributed to several government reports aimed at facilitating the transition of India’s energy sector and worked closely with a diverse set of clients/stakeholders- industry, industry forums, regulators, public and private utilities, governments, academia, international research institutions, bilateral and multilateral organizations in different geographies.
